FAQ
Most frequent questions and answers - Porto Guides & Tours
Bookings and confirmation
Why should I book my tour in advance?
Booking in advance helps secure your spot on your preferred date and time, especially on weekends, public holidays and during high season. It also gives you peace of mind knowing your experience is confirmed before you arrive in Porto.
How will I receive my booking confirmation?
Once your booking is completed, you’ll see the confirmation on screen and receive an email with all the details: booking reference, language, meeting point, duration and tour conditions.
What should I do if I don’t receive the confirmation email?
First, check your spam or junk folder. If you still can’t find it, contact us with your name, phone number and booking reference if available. We’ll help you locate your booking as soon as possible.
Do I need to print my voucher or can I show it on my phone?
For most tours, you can show your confirmation on your smartphone. If any provider or activity requires a printed voucher, we’ll clearly state it in the confirmation email.
Can I change the date or time of my booking?
Yes, subject to availability. Contact us with your booking reference and we’ll do our best to help you change the date or time.
Languages, groups and meeting points
Which languages are the tours offered in?
We offer tours in English and Spanish, always in separate language groups and led by professional local guides.
How big are the groups?
We work with small groups to offer a more personal, comfortable and engaging experience. The exact group size may vary depending on the tour, date and season.
Where do the tours in Porto start?
Most tours start at central and easy-to-find meeting points. One of our usual meeting points is Largo Amor de Perdição, in Porto city centre. You’ll receive the exact address once your booking is confirmed.
Where do the tours end?
It depends on the route. Tours usually end in central or well-connected areas, so you can keep exploring Porto, return to your accommodation or continue with another activity.
Tours, day trips and experiences
What types of tours do you offer in Porto?
We offer regular tours, private tours, walking tours in the historic centre, day trips from Porto, Port wine experiences, winery visits, river cruises and tailor-made routes based on your interests.
Do you offer private tours in Porto?
Yes. We organise private tours in Porto adapted to your pace, interests and schedule. They are ideal for couples, families, groups of friends, companies, schools or incentive trips.
Can I customise a private tour?
Of course. We can adapt the itinerary to include the historic centre, Ribeira, São Bento, the Cathedral, Clérigos Tower, Vila Nova de Gaia, wine cellars, viewpoints, food experiences or Port wine tastings.
Can I take day trips from Porto?
Yes. We organise day trips from Porto to the Douro Valley, Braga, Guimarães and other destinations in northern Portugal, either as regular or private tours.
Is transport included in day trips?
It depends on the experience you choose. Many day trips include transport from Porto, and for private tours we can arrange pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation when possible.
Are wine tastings or winery visits included?
Some experiences include Port wine tastings, winery visits in Vila Nova de Gaia or food experiences. This will be clearly stated in each tour description before you book.
Are river cruises included?
It depends on the tour. Some experiences may include a Douro River cruise or allow you to add it as an extra. Check the tour description to see exactly what is included.
Duration, accessibility and conditions
How long do the tours in Porto last?
Walking tours usually last between 2 and 2.5 hours. River cruises are usually around one hour. Day trips from Porto can take half a day or a full day depending on the destination.
Can I bring hand luggage?
On walking tours, you can bring a small bag or backpack as long as it does not make the route uncomfortable. For day trips, wineries or activities with transport, please check with us before booking.
Are pets allowed?
Small, well-behaved dogs may be allowed on some walking tours. Indoor venues, wineries, transport or boats may have restrictions. We recommend checking with us before booking.
Are the tours suitable for people with reduced mobility?
It depends on the route. Porto has steep streets, stairs and cobblestone areas, so not all tours are suitable for reduced mobility. Contact us before booking and we’ll recommend the best option.
Weather, cancellations and payments
What happens if it rains?
Tours go ahead in light rain. We only reschedule or cancel if weather conditions could affect safety or prevent the activity from being carried out properly.
What is your cancellation policy?
Most of our experiences offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time. Some tickets, wineries, transport or third-party services may have special conditions.
If you cancel the tour, will I get a refund?
Yes. If we cancel an activity, you’ll receive a full refund or, if you prefer, we’ll try to offer an alternative on another available date.
Can I request an invoice?
Yes. Send us your full billing details and we’ll issue the invoice as soon as possible.
